A Decision

From the Fabulous Faith series by Semona Michael.

Let me begin with a short story, some of you may have already heard or read this one before.

It’s about a little town that was suffering from drought, their vegetation was wilting and their lakes would soon dry up. That Sunday at church the pastor said let’s continue to pray for rain and believe that our God will send us the much needed showers of blessings.
The church stood together and prayed. The next day little Rachel was getting ready for school, she had her water bottle filled and her school bag packed, her dad called out to her to hurry up, ‘ a minute’ Rachel said as she rushed towards the door, ‘I couldn’t forget my umbrella’ she told her dad, ‘ why aren’t you carrying yours daddy?’. Her dad laughed pointing to the clear sunny sky and asked her,’ but where’s the rain?’. To which she replied,’ didn’t we pray for rain at church daddy?’. Her dad was at loss for words, he went back inside the house and got his umbrella. That evening it rained, a downpour so strong that trees fell and the lights went out!

Through this story we see the faith demonstrated by a child, even though she couldn’t see the rain that morning, she had faith because they had prayed.

Our God is a covenant keeper! Every time we see a rainbow in the sky we are reminded that our God keeps His promises!
With that in mind it should be easier for us to have faith knowing that our God stands true to His word. Yet we doubt and sway and don’t make a decision to have faith. We try and rationalise seeking reason in our false realities instead of making a firm decision to trust and have faith knowing that our God will definitely come through for us.

You decide to have faith or not, it’s a personal decision, a powerful one to say the least.

At its heart, faith is always a decision. No one can force you to believe in anything. The choice is always yours

He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Matthew 17:20

We are asked to have mustard seed sized faith, that’s all, not asking for much.
Let’s make that decision! To have faith in our God who is enough!
To have faith like child without doubt.
To have faith with the knowledge that the outcome is always for our good and to have faith that brings glory to our God!
